How to Implement Music to Meditate

Find Something Relaxing

The music itself doesn’t have to necessarily be relaxing, but something like it may be what you need. Trance, techno, or other of that sort without lyrics is often used as it is only notes and vibrations rather than lyrics and changing tones.

The meditation music you choose should help you be comfortable and be present. You don’t want to listen to something that you can sing along to, fall asleep to, or get hyped up to run through a brick wall. You want to relax and focus on yourself!

Find Comfort

Getting into a comfortable position can be the key differentiating factor for some people to have a successful meditative session. While most people think sitting cross-legged is necessary, it’s completely up to you. The most important element is that you find a position you won’t fall asleep in. You won’t want to lie on your back, you might want to sit in a chair, sit on the floor,  rest your head in your hands. Get comfortable, relax, and transport yourself deep into your mind.

Focus on the Music

Allow the music to overtake your body. You want to feel as if you are weightless and floating through every note and vibration you hear. Kick out negative thoughts and feelings and feel present. Focus on the music and align yourself.

Repeat, Repeat, Repeat

The key to successful meditation is practice. After one session you may not feel anything. After a week of practice, the same may be said. Although your conscious self may not feel anything, your subconscious and unconscious mind are taking notes and changing. Meditation is about the deeper level of our consciousness and it can take longer for some to feel the effects on a daily level. Just know that it’s working and it takes dedication and practice.
